Heavy Gauge Steel Slitting
Slitting is the mechanical process of cutting metal coils or metal sheets into a series of narrow strips to control its width for industrial applications. The metal is moved lengthwise through a slitting line, where it is cut by a series of both upper and lower slitting knives to ensure that the width is reduced and the length remains consistent. Effective slitting is dependent on knowledge of the material, understanding its tolerance for stress, and proper tooling and knife clearance to avoid waving, burr, and marks. Each of our 6 slitting lines has over a decade of slitting experience, and most have much more. This expertise allows us to perform steel coil slitting with unmatched precision and efficiency.
MD Metals specializes in heavy gauge narrow slitting that is always camber free. Each of our four slitting lines has unique capabilities that provide our customers with slitting capabilities that few companies can offer. We are a coil processor and we slit and sell our own material. Many of our slitting operators has over a decade of slitting experience or more.
