Edge Conditioning

MD Metals, Inc. provides superior edge conditioned products on slit coil. We specialize in edge conditioning heavy gauge material. We can provide a full round on material up to .280” thick and a safety/deburred or square edge up to .400″ thick. We have Tishken Edging Lines that allow us to provide the highest quality cut-to-length and coil-to-coil services for our customers.

After the steel coil is slit, we run it through our edging line, where immense pressure is applied by steel rollers to form the desired shape. This steel edging process also removes burr, which is a sharp ridge of protruding material that runs along the metal’s edges after it’s been slit. It is typically advantageous to have the burr removed, as the sharp edges cause damage during transportation and have the potential to cause serious bodily harm if mishandled. The steel edging process also gives the finished product an attractive, manicured look that most industries prefer to work with.
